Lynn Bull, pianist for the Bay Area Chorus began her accompanying career in the fifth grade when she accompanied for junior high band solo and ensemble contest. The following year she accompanied her first choir at Parker Elementary School in Houston. Playing under the direction of Milton Pullen with the BAC brings great joy to Lynn as she was one of his accompanists when she attended Clear Lake High School. She has continued as a professional accompanist throughout her life playing for choirs, singers, and instrumentalists.
Mrs. Bull retired at the end of last school year after teaching for thirty two years. She was most recently an assistant choral director at The Woodlands High School where her responsibilities included directing the 9th Grade Women’s choirs, co-directing the Varsity Women’s Choir, teaching Music Theory, as well as accompanying the choirs when she wasn’t conducting. Mrs. Bull’s choirs maintained a high standard of excellence receiving consistently superior ratings at contest, performing for the Texas Music Educators Association and the Southwest Division of the American Choral Directors’ Association. Other public school teaching jobs include Leander High School, Cedar Park and Leander Middle Schools, Huntsville High School, and Mance Park Junior High School. Mrs. Bull was a member of the voice faculty at Sam Houston State University for many years. Her duties included teaching voice majors and musical theater majors, teaching a voice class, accompanying her own and other voice students and playing for the Chorale one year. She maintained a private voice studio for many years and is currently teaching voice lessons at The Woodlands High School.
Mrs. Bull began her choral music education at Clear Lake High School under the direction of Milton Pullen and Norris Blevins. She studied voice throughout high school and into college with Janice Robbins. Lynn is a proud Bearkat as she attended Sam Houston State University where she studied conducting under Dr. Bev Henson and voice with Ms. Barbara Corbin and Dr. Walter Foster. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance. Lynn has been married to Mark Bull, Security Manager at Bush Intercontinental Airport for thirty two years. They have two beautiful daughters, Darcy and Emily; two wonderful sons-in-laws, Ryan and Devin, and two precious grandchildren, Rylan and Mila.
