Auditions

Interested in participating in the Fall season? Please request an appointment to audition by contacting us.

Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 season began August 15, so please contact BAC as soon as possible if you wish to participate this fall.

Official auditions for the 2011 - 2012 Spring season are scheduled for Sunday, January 8. 2012, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The auditions will be held in the Chapel of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Rehearsals for the spring season will begin on Monday, January 9, 2012.

Other dates/times are available by appointment.

Please include the information listed below:

• contact information: home address; phone; email address
• specify your preferred voice part, if known
• indicate the type of audition (general audition or music educator scholarship/chamber singers)
• describe your musical background and experience
• explain why you are interested in auditioning for the Bay Area Chorus.

Auditions are held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 18220 Upper Bay Rd, Nassau Bay MAP (across from the NASA Johnson Space Center). Note: Upper Bay Road intersects NASA Parkway across from the main NASA complex in Clear Lake.

Audition requirements

• Vocalization
• Sing a portion of " America," acappella
• Sing short tonal patters which assess tonal memory
• Sight read a short exercise

Additional requirements for BAC Chamber Singers and Music Educator Scholarship Auditions

• Same as above (the sight reading exercise will be more challenging)
• Performance of an art song such as a piece from the 24 Italian Songs and Arias or French, German or contemporary American classical song anthologies.
